Between mining tradition and rose magic
In the south-west of Mansfeld Land, between the Eastern Harz Mountains and the Golden Aue, Frankish settlers laid the first foundations for today's Sangerhausen in the 6th century. Today, the district town of the Mansfeld-Südharz district looks back on a long history.
Two of the many lines of tradition have a special significance for us Sangerhausen residents, as the name "Berg- und Rosenstadt" (mining and rose town) reveals: the centuries of mining and the tradition of rose cultivation founded in 1903. You will discover a lot of both on your tours through Sangerhausen and our surrounding area, but also much more!
