The Sondershausen Adventure Mine
Crackling excitement in the world's oldest drivable potash mine in Sondershausen: drilling first took place here at the end of the 19th century and potash salts were mined until 1990, creating a gigantic underground world at depths of up to 670 metres. Today, visitors can experience the mysterious underground labyrinth with its impressive mining and conveying technology on an open truck. A punt trip on the salt lake in an original wooden Spree Forest punt is also unforgettable. It is also an experience to venture down the tunnel slide: brave visitors rush down around 52 m
with a gradient of 40% on a traditional mining "arschleder" 28 metres in height. The mine regularly hosts cultural and sporting events. Guests from the age of ten can enter the mine by prior arrangement.
