Reservoir Kelbra

Tens of thousands of cranes fly through the sky, the loud calls of the birds can still be heard hundreds of metres away: This unique natural spectacle attracts onlookers from all over Germany to the Kelbra reservoir every year. The six-square-kilometre lake is located at the foot of the Kyffhäuser Mountains and, in addition to its unique birdlife, also has a lot to offer recreation-seekers.
Visitors can pursue a variety of leisure activities around the lake: From swimming in the lido to sailing or surfing to romping on sports and play areas. A highlight for the little ones is the fun pool with a large water slide in the lido. The "Seecamping Kelbra", located directly on the lake, offers overnight accommodation, either on one of the more than 300 pitches, in cosy bungalows or wooden sleeping barrels. Visitors can enjoy a meal at the "Seeblick" restaurant, which serves a wide variety of regional and international dishes.
