Old Castle & Music School
The Old Castle was built in 1260 by the Wettin Henry the Illustrious and expanded in 1446 by Duke William III of Saxony. It has been the headquarters of the district music school since 1991 and was newly renovated in 2012 and expanded to include the Ludowinger Hall. Well-equipped classrooms, two concert halls, vaults, music garden and amphitheatre offer optimal teaching and event facilities. Music lessons are available in almost all instruments, singing, music theory as well as ensemble and orchestra playing for children, young people and adults.
The cultural education is supplemented or combined with offers in ballet, jazz dance and visual arts. With special courses for the youngest, the joy of experiencing music together is awakened from baby age. Music lessons can start with parent-child classes (from 4 months) or early music education (from 3 years), but you're never too old to start making music. That's why there are also special offers for adults and seniors.
