Just as the 144m high Hohe Linde spoil heap shapes the townscape of the mining and rose town, 800 years of copper slate mining influenced the people and landscape of the entire region. The miners' heritage is kept alive in the Röhrigschacht mining experience centre in Wettelrode. Here you will find Germany's oldest operating steel winding tower. The 283-metre descent takes visitors on an unforgettable excursion into the history of mining on the mine train.
